Well, we finally have it! Shadow of War, a sequel to Shadow of Mordor. The trailer was released on February 27 (hush, I’m not behind at all!) and it looks quite interesting:
There’s also a 16-minute gameplay trailer that was published a few days ago (see, I’m catching up).
So Many Questions
Let’s just say the creators have taken some creative liberties–even more so than Shadow of Mordor. There really isn’t any debate about whether or not this story will be canon. It seems that the fairest way to describe this is AU: alternate universe.
Despite how far removed it is from the actual story of The Lord of the Rings, I’m excited for this game. It looks fun to play and it’s a very different take on Middle-earth.
Even though it’s still very early days, there’s a lot to unpack from these two trailers. I plan to break it into smaller chunks over the coming weeks. Believe me, if I try to cover everything in one blog post, I’ll never finish.
I already have a list of questions started. Do you have any you’d like me to attempt to answer? Obviously, most of it will be guesses, but I’m also conducting research to make my answers as accurate as possible.
Oh, and I may or may not have pre-ordered the mithril edition of Shadow of Mordor today…
